written while dating my wife

Travelling alone, my path was set,
My mind was made, I was glad; and yet
Something was always missing. Apart
From men and their constant noise, my heart
Had time to feel the void that was deep
Within. I could not, even in sleep
Escape the vague feeling of despair.
Then you came walking in. Love was there
And suddenly all my dreams were strange;
My plans were changed, my life rearranged.
I had to think of my other self
Now; put all selfish plans on the shelf.
Fed on dreams, bathed in tears, my poor heart
Found in you its counterpart.
